If you follow me on social media you may have seen that I am working on a new collection of silver and gold pieces, and I don't mean silver with gold plate, but pieces that combine solid sterling silver with solid 18ct gold. Below are two of the first rings in this collection, I love the way the two metals look together, especially with the soft satin finish.
I'm working on more pieces to add to this collection, next up will be a pair of hoop earrings and I can't wait to get them done and show them to you!
I'm also experimenting with different ways to mix metals in my work and keum boo is one of the techniques I am using to do this. This ancient Korean technique fuses 24ct gold foil to silver and the result is a bonded layer that won't wear off like gold plate. It's a great way to add gold and looks lovely, below is a test piece for a commission I am currently working on, I can see lots of ways these pieces can be used to make jewellery!
