Hello,
I've been making a lot of work with dendritic agates recently and I want to share some of it with you and tell you a bit more about these amazing gemstones.
Dendritic agates are acutally a type of chalcedony and the patterns within are created by water rich in magnese and iron oxides that flows through fissures in the rock as it forms. The details in the gems are most often black or brown but you will also see touches of red, orange and yellow. One of the things I love about them is that due to the way they are formed each stone is one of a kind, with it's own unique plant, tree or landscape inside.
Below are a few of the dendritic agate pieces in progress on my bench now, most are commissions but a few are not so if you see one you like send me an email and I'll let you know if it is available, I also have a growing collection of these gems ready and watiting for commissons.
